Brian Felix

stitely_312_band_brian_felix

Brian Felix was born in New Jersey and began studying piano at the age of five. His early grounding was in classical music, but by his early teens his interest moved to jazz, rock and other improvisational keyboard styles. At Rutgers University, Felix became serious about the study of jazz music and worked for two years under the tutelage of piano legend Kenny Barron. Felix went on to form OM Trio, a jazz-rock group that toured internationally and received wide critical acclaim between 1999-2004. Brian currently resides in Chicago, where he is completing work on a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Illinois. He currently performs throughout the Chicago area with 312 Chicago, Drop Q, Orange Alert, Auraphone, and the children’s group The Sparklemonkeys.
