Art Davis

Art Davis is an experienced performer and teacher committed to the promotion and education of jazz and world music. Art received both his Bachelors in Music Education and Masters in Musicology from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. Art is currently a trumpet instructor at the University of Illinois, Chicago and professor of Jazz Studies at Northern Illinois University. Mr. Davis has been a professional freelance musician in the Chicago area and has also toured with legendary artists Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra and Rosemary Clooney. Art has also performed with Doc Severinson, Clark Terry, Louis Bellson, Joe Williams, Dizzy Gillespie, Nancy Wilson, Natalie Cole, Diane Shure, Sammy Davis Jr and Bill Cosby among others.

Bill Overton
saxophone

Bill was born in Memphis and grew up immersed in its tradition of Blues, Soul and Jazz. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Music Education from the university of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in 1978. Bill moved to New York in 1981 where he performed with such artists as Mel Lewis, Doc Cheatham, Vic Dickinson, Rosemary Clooney, Odetta, Bo Didley, The Temptations, The Spinners and The St. Luke's Chamber Orchestra. He has also worked with a number of Broadway pit orchestras and has extensive experience in recording work. Also while in New York, Bill taught at William Peterson College, The Brooklyn Conservatory and the Aebersold Summer Jazz Clinics. Bill moved to the Chicago area in 1998 where he continues to perform with the Chicago Jazz Orchestra, the Ellington Dynasty, The Ravinia Festival Orchestra, Frank Wess, Kenny Burell and many others.

John Sabal
guitar, keyboards, vocals

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, John has been performing on the Chicago music scene for more than a dozen years. Raised on a steady diet of prog-rock, synth-pop, and funk, John studied music at Valparaiso University. He’s adept at bass and keyboards as well as guitar and sings everything from country to rock classics like “Sweet Home Alabama” to the Violent Femmes “Blister in the Sun.” John has shared the stage with such artists as Los Lobs, Jorma Kaukonen, The Aquarium Rescue Unit and Cowboy Mouth.

Allison Orobia
vocals
A native of Arlington Heights, Allison has been singing on the Chicago scene for the past 8 years.  Allison attended The Chicago College of Performing Arts of Roosevelt University, earning her bachelor’s degree in Music Education and Jazz Voice.  While at the CCPA, Allison was a member of the Downbeat award-winning vocal jazz ensemble, New Deal, and was a member of the Grant Park Symphony Chorus.  Currently, she teaches elementary general music at Madison School in Skokie.  When she’s not teaching, Allison is a freelance vocalist and can be heard various groups including hip-hop fusion group, Doc’s Delorean and The Caroling Party.
Chris Clemente
bass, vocals

Chris received his formal training at The University of Miami, DePaul University and Roosevelt University. Chris has performed with such notable artists as Jon Secada, Randy Brecker, Hiriam Bullock, Percy Sledge and the Coasters. Chris was recognized in Bass Player Magazine for his playing on the CD release of the Chicago band "Amazing Headgear" and his own band Kick the Cat. In 2004, Chris was the featured Artist on Warwick's website (warwickbass.com), one of the top bass manufacturers in the nation.

Jeff Stitely
drums

Jeff began his career as a jazz drummer building a reputation in Chicago by playing with such superb artists as Chick Corea, Wynton Marsalis, Randy Becker, Eddie Harris, Larry Coryell, "Groove" Holmes, Kathleen Battle, Zoot Sims, Patricia Barber, Von Freeman, Bobby Shew, the Grant Park Symphony, Sinfonieta, Fulcrumpoint and many others. Jeff won "Best Soloist" at the 9th International Jazz Competition of Belgium and has been awarded 2 National Endowment for the Arts grants. The Jeff Stitely Quartet recorded three CDs. "Chameleon Eyes" won the distinguished award of "Top 10 CD's of the year" by WBEZ and the Sun Times. They toured both the U.S. and Europe and were finalists in the Hennessey National Jazz Competition.

Jeff studied and performed African drumming and dance with Gideon Foli Alorwoyie for five years. This great musical tradition is about bringing spirit to the rituals of the community like weddings, harvests and births. In that same spirit, Jeff started Stitely Entertainment in 1994 to combine dance music with his desire to provide quality music for our traditions. In addition to playing music, Jeff is currently a Ravinia Jazz Mentor working with High School jazz musicians. He performed with the Chicago Symphony "Gershwin-Bernstein Ensemble for 5 years and has been on faculty at Northern Illinois and Northeastern Illinois Universities teaching percussion.

Paris Robinson

Paris Robinson has made an imprint on the Chicago music scene and beyond. Born in Chicago, Paris helped shape and pioneer the genre of music now known as house music. He has teamed up with such artists as Byron Stingly, Joe Smooth, Ten City and The Pet Shop Boys. He has also released songs on such records labels such as CBS, Sony, Capitol and EMI, as well as a number of independent labels. Paris’s smooth and powerful vocals allow him to perform such cord-stretching tunes as Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” and recreate a fevered rendition Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean. Paris lives in Chicago with his wife and their three children.

Holly McGuire

Holly McGuire is a versatile, powerful vocalist whose musical talents have been a mainstay of the Chicago music scene for more than two decades. From rock and jazz to rhythm and blues, Holly has performed with such notable entertainers as Dave Koz, Roberta Flack, The Young Rascals, and Sister Sledge. She is a sought after studio singer, whose voice has been featured in Leo Burnett and other nationally televised commercials.

Holly has been an inspiration in the recording field performing on such CD's as "Mr. Green Eyes" with the members of Roy Orbison's band. Her releases; "Pictures of the Past" and "Essentials of Love" received regular airplay after she performed live at Poland's Woodstock '99 before 300,000 people. Holly also works as a mentor and musical performer with the Chicago Public School's Urban Gateway's program. This program provides aspiring young artists iin inner city schools training and inspiration.

Karl Montzka

Karl Montzka earned a Bachelors in piano performance and Northern Illinois University. Since then, he has lived in Chicago working as a freelance musician and teacher. He has performed and recorded with many renowned jazz artists, such as James Moody, Clark Terry, Louis Bellson, and Curtis Fuller. His own group, the Karl Montzka Organ Band, has performed at the Chicago Jazz Festival and the Iowa City Jazz Festival, and recorded its first CD in March of '99. Karl also teaches jazz piano at Northeastern Illinois University, DePaul Community Music School, New Trier High School, and the Music Institute of Chicago.

Tim Coffman
trombone

Tim Coffman is one of the most active trombonists and teachers in the Chicago area. A graduate of the prestigious Jazz Studies program at Indiana University. Tim is in demand for studio and show work and has performed with Frank Sinatra, Frank Sinatra Jr., Andy Williams, Nataie Cole, Lou Rawls, The Temptations, Louie Bellson, The Woody Herman Orchestra, Paul Anka, Al Jarreau, Henry Mancini, Stevie Wonder, Diane Schur, Jimmy Heath, Randy Brecker and Benny Golson among others. He has performed in the pit orchestra for "The Producers" and also performed with the Chicago Symphony playing lead trombone in the Duke Ellington "Nutcracker." He is currently the jazz trombone instructor at DePaul University and he just finished recording his own CD entitled "Crossroads." Photo by Rosalind Van Tuy

Scott Dickerson

Scott recently won second place in the jazz division of the National trumpet competition and received third place in the young adult division of the Union League Jazz Competition. He is currently working on his Masters degree in Jazz at DePaul University while freelancing with many of the great jazz players in Chicago.
